Pedro Paricio: Nine Portraits
In this new series of paintings, Paricio approaches many of his references - the pictorial tradition, the history and philosophy of art, intertextuality, narratology, cinema, but he uses a different chromatic range and incorporates renewed expressive techniques, in a body of work that the artist himself has defined as "paintings with a pop look but a classic spirit".
Pedro Paricio's work is unique and immediately recognizable. The nine portraits from this collection are territories to be searched: shapes and colours that make up a body, but go beyond the flesh, towards the unsuspected shapes that we have inside if we look at ourselves through a microscope. These portraits, viewed through Paricio’s geometric lens, inhabit a landscape in which countless stories fit, and which the artist seeks to interrogate.
Nine Portraits is Paricio’s fourth solo public exhibition in Spain, after the ICAS in Seville, curated by Juan Manuel Bonet, 2012, TEA in Tenerife, curated by Isidro Hernandez, 2014 and at CAB in Burgos curated by Javier del Campo, 2022.
